Rugged Laptop Upgrades Our rugged laptops are not the stock models. We upgrade the hardware, particularly adding the maximum amount of memory and replacing the stock hard disk with solid state drive. A solid state drive has the following benefits in the field: Zero Moving Parts - less to fail, nothing to "park" in the event of a fall Significant processing power improvement, in some cases tripling execution speed Major reduction in heat expenditure Lengthening of battery life, up to double in some cases

Software If you have custom software that needs to travel to your field research site, we can configure and deploy it to our rugged laptops in whatever configuration you need. We can provision our water-proof and sand-proof laptops to run Linux, BSD, or Windows XP natively (not in virtual machines) and have your custom software pre-loaded and validated before deploying to the field. Once in the field, we can provide on-site support and critical, last-minute adjustments to the hardware and software to ensure that the expedition is a success. We Grok Open Source.
